I love how Ray gave himself permission to be bad initially in his mind re doing comedy. Often in life we think we have to be really good at something we enjoy, or we simply must give it up. Ray had the maturity and awareness to realise that when he first started, he wouldn’t be
the worlds greatest comedian and gave himself the time and space to improve, grow and develop so that he eventually would be the brilliant comedian we see today. As Ray says, he had to power through before he was able to confidently excel at comedy.
I cannot express how important it is to believe that taking one tiny — and possibly very uncomfortable — step at a time can ultimately add up to a great distance. Tig Notaro,
