I love how Brennan talks about external validation and how it can corrupt us if we chase it or value it too strongly. Brennan delicately explains how the best validation is the one within us, if we only rely on external validation, we will be miserable. Also from an artistic perspective, if we create purely on what we think others want, and move away from ourselves, that’s a quick way to lose ourselves. He also talks about flow which is a really interesting topic for me, in that it’s an experience which almost feels like it transcends times, where one is connected or fully immersed in an activity and ever so present. Brennan outlines how he is more able to tap into this space when 1) he is prepared and 2) is able to let go. This is an incredible feeling where we put all the thinking, judgement or negative thoughts to the side and are able to achieve something far greater than often we could have imagined.
Life is like a river. The way of life is to flow with the current. To turn against it takes effort but the current will carry you if you let it. Float with joy and ease- anonymous
